Trump was told his name appeared 'multiple times' in Epstein files, says report; White House calls it 'another fake news'

The US Justice Department has informed Donald Trump that his name appears several times in official documents related to Jeffrey Epstein, according to a report from CNN. Attorney General Pam Bondi reportedly briefed Trump during a White House meeting in May, noting that his name came up alongside others in files containing “unverified hearsay” about people who had once socialised with Epstein.

Sources told CNN that Bondi told Trump his name was included in the records during a Justice Department review. A senior official clarified to The Journal that the documents mention hundreds of names, and simply being named does not suggest any wrongdoing.

White House communications director Steven Cheung dismissed the media reports, calling them “another fake news story.”
Bondi also told Trump that investigators found no credible “client list” nor any evidence contradicting the official conclusion that Epstein died by suicide.

Officials familiar with the review said many claims in the files, including those involving Trump, were considered unsubstantiated and unreliable by the Justice Department.

It’s unclear in what context Trump’s name appears, but like many public figures in 1990s New York, he was known to have social ties with Epstein. The documents reportedly do little to expand what is already known about their past connection.

“The White House was not surprised — Trump’s name was among those listed in the binders Pam Bondi brought in,” one official said, adding that previous DOJ materials also referenced Trump.

Trump’s relationship with Epstein has long faced scrutiny. In 2002, Trump told New York Magazine, “I’ve known Jeff for 15 years. Terrific guy… He likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side.” The Journal also reported that Trump once sent Epstein a risqué birthday note — a claim he denies and has since sued the publication over.

Adding fuel to speculation, Elon Musk recently posted on X, claiming Trump’s name is in the Epstein files — suggesting that’s why they haven’t been fully released. “Have a nice day, DJT!” Musk wrote.
